New video now available for download; status update
|
It took a while longer than I planned, but the new video is finally available for download, both in high quality and low quality versions. The newest installation of the S&D HMV Special can be viewed here.
On that note, I would like to follow up on explaining a few things that I wanted to post this weekend, but was unable to due to time constraints. This largely concerns my involvement with BSP and the network in general.
It has become heavily evident that in the last two years, involvement with the website by our staff has decreased quite a bit. That's not necessarily anyone's fault - as we have all referred to numerous times, our schedules just seem to permit less and less free time as the days roll by. This news post and getting the video up itself are two of the most recent examples of just having too demanding of a schedule to spare some time for the network.
This announcement should probably not be much of a surprise considering it's been in effect for, well, at least a year now, but my days of constant video posting are finished. Let me try to clarify myself: I have no aspirations to continue with making music videos on any sort of regular basis. Just look at activity from the last year as evidence of that...
This is not me saying I'm stepping down, leaving the website, or done making all videos forever. More or less, this has been the reality of things for almost a whole year now and I just want to clarify my stance on it and get it out there.
Every once in a while, those creative juices get to flowing and sometimes I just get the drive to make a cool video. Today's video post was a result of one of those once-in-a-while things. A lot of the videos posted during last year's anniversary week were largely a result of that as well.
If I had to sit here and make a prediction as to how many videos will be put out from now on, I'd say maybe two to three videos a year. Just whenever those creative juices start to come around.
I've always said that I love to work on this website because above all else, it's fun to do. I spend enough time on here to accomplish that goal, but the moment I start trying to crank videos out for the sake of living up to constant posting, it seems like it is more of a job than having fun, and it's at those points when I get angered and go do something else.
Between the posting of videos, I'll try and get something new added every once in a while, be it an article or something. Between all of that, updates on any sort of constant or periodic basis, at least from me, have been a thing of the past for a while now.

Welcome to Baby Seal Productions.
Today, February 27, 2009, is the two-year anniversary of the launch of the BSP Network. It's safe to say that a lot of people didn't think we would be around for that long after our debut, but sure enough even in a troubled economy, here we stand.
Our initial success came as the result of a tiny little comic re-writing contest that Danny won a little over two years ago. He won free advertising for a week on a website that got millions of hits daily, and somehow agreed with me to use it on this little project. Without his assistance, this network would not exist today.
This website has never been about getting X hits a week or making sure that we're "successful" by some sort of standards or measurements. It's been about having fun, and for over two years now, I can safely say on my part that it has been nothing but a lot of fun. While times change and things sometimes get hectic, it's always been a thrill to work on the website and have something entertaining to show to others. I think the other members of this network can say the same as well.
I was originally planning on having some other things to announce, but my schedule for today is pretty time consuming so I will post some other announcements later this weekend. There was also a video that I was hoping to have ready to share with everyone at the time of this news post, but sure enough there were a few things preventing that as well. The new video will be up before this weekend is over.
Until then, I'd like to thank everyone who has been involved with the website in any way, shape, or form in the last two years. You know who you are, and without your input, we'd be nothing at all. Thank you for the memories, and here's to another great year of Baby Seal Productions!

Two-year anniversary this Friday!

It's been far too long since I've updated this place. What's going on?
It has certainly been a wild ride in the two years that this site has been up. The fact of the matter is that as we all get older and move on to bigger and better things, we sometimes forget the smaller things we were once a part of.
Last year to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the website, we had nine new videos to showcase. Every single series that we have put together here at BSP saw a new chapter, and we ended up revealing a brand new one at the end of all the festivities. I truly wish that I could say that the same is in store for this year, but unfortunately, time is not an asset that anyone seems to have much of these days. The rest of the staff can probably speak for that as well.
In the past seven months, we've seen a drought when it comes to new material. The amount of footage for new videos that I've compiled since then is not very large, either. However, I've put together a fun little video that I'll post here this Friday, February 27th - which for those of you who may or may not know, will be the exact two-year anniversary of the website. This will be brand new material as well - no "greatest hits" collection of sorts showcasing last year's videos. After all, a good 75% of the stuff that got posted last year was added during LAST YEAR'S anniversary...
In addition I'd like to also share some other announcements concerning myself and the network in general. That's for Friday, though, so until then, be sure to check out any videos that you may have never gotten around to and be sure to stop back this Friday for another anniversary "celebration!"

We Are Back
|
As you can see the website has been re-opened, we will be switching to a new server at some point this month but until then the site will function as before (unless some major issue suddenly happens).
I would like to again thank everyone who has supported the site over the past 2 years and hopefully we will have more fun times, anyway welcome back and have fun  . |

Major Announcement - Please Read
|
I have been hoping too avoid this situation but I am afraid it is not good news.
There has been a rise in the cost of our hosting (due too the shocking conversion rate of the £ to $) which has resulted in a 50% rise in cost, I would like too point out this is in no way related to our hosting company who have not increased the cost but purely due to the economy.
I had planned on keeping our current hosting but due to other financial commitments and the worsening recession I have made the difficult decision too suspend all web projects indefinitely, this will also include the cancellation of our hosting.
I would like to take this time too thank everyone who has been involved with the network over the last 2 years especially Soulz, JshWthrs, Red Magic and Thomas Rule, you guys have definitely made the time enjoyable and helped keep the sites alive.
I would like too stress this suspension is only temporary, the economy will improve and the sites will return, I have backed everything up and The Club will be hurting innocent seals again soon enough and when they do I will let everyone know the sites are back.
In the mean time I would like too thank everyone for there continued support and hope too see everyone again in the near future.
Our hosting runs out at the start of next month and I do realise this is very short notice and it has taken me by suprise too and it is an unavoidable situation, this will directly effect the following sites:

Just a quick post too note a few things relating to the site and network.
The club has been upgraded too the latest stable release of VBulletin, as a result of several changes within the templates I have created a new skin which is available now and the new forum default. I will leave all previous skins as they are for the time being, they will still be usable but you may have issues with some features, in which case post a thread in the support forum and I will fix it, I also plan on updating all previous skins over the next few weeks starting with the club elite skin.
Anyways I now present the 'Club 2.0' skin, its available from the drop down at the bottom of the forum page.
I have been working on various other projects as of late also, some small for off network sites and a major one for one of the sites on the network which I will announce soon when its close to being ready for launch.
We are also just over a month away from our second anniversary on February 27, hopefully we will have something planned around that time.
